Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the pleasure of spending a lot of time at PAC Midwest Rodeo Arena and meeting some truly wonderful people along the way. One of those people is Jovie! I recently had the privilege of capturing her western/rodeo-inspired senior portraits at the arena in Crawfordsville, IN, and it was such a fun, creative session.
When Jovie reached out, I was immediately overwhelmed with ideas. She spends so much time at the arena practicing shoot dogging, and during the summer, she competes in the monthly rodeos. It felt only fitting to make that very arena the backdrop for her senior session—a space that truly reflects her passions.
Adding to the excitement, Jovie is a photographer herself, so she understands the importance of props, details, and sentimental touches. Collaborating with her was such a joy—we were able to dream up creative ideas that perfectly highlighted her personality and her love for the western lifestyle.
On top of that, she nailed her outfit. I loved how she looked like she stepped straight off a Pinterest board (and I believe she got her dress from Boot Barn!). At first, I was a little worried about combining her polished, pretty look with the gritty rodeo arena backdrop—but it worked beautifully. The contrast made the images feel dynamic, authentic, and uniquely hers.
The session captured Jovie’s confidence, western spirit, and individuality, and it was such a pleasure to document this exciting chapter in her life.
