Some photography sessions are extra special, and this one with Bri and her mare, Ago, was definitely one of them.


Bri has been a good friend of mine for several years, so having the opportunity to photograph her and her horse was incredibly meaningful. I wanted this session to be more than just beautiful portraits—I wanted to capture the connection and relationship between Bri and her horse.


There is something so special about the bond between a horse and their person. It is often found in the simple, quiet moments: a hand resting on a neck, a soft look, a gentle touch, or just standing together. These are the moments we can sometimes take for granted, but they are the moments I love capturing most during an equine photography session.


Bri's boyfriend also joined us for a few photos, which made the session even more personal and fun. I love when sessions allow me to capture not only the horse and rider relationship but also the people who are important to them.


Ago wasn't exactly a fan of the whole "posing" thing, so instead of forcing her into poses that made her uncomfortable, I decided to work with her. I played around with different lighting, angles, and poses throughout the session to keep things relaxed and natural. Sometimes the best photographs happen when you stop trying to make everything perfect and simply let the horse be themselves.


That is one of my favorite parts of equine photography—working with each horse's personality and finding ways to create images that feel authentic to the relationship they share with their person.


This session was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do. The goal isn't always to create the perfect posed photograph. Sometimes, it is about slowing down and capturing the little moments that tell a story.


And those are the photographs I hope Bri and her family can look back on for years to come.
